Services for Jim Youngblood age 87 of Grapeland, TX will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Grapeland, February 22 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Chuck Bratz officiating. Jim was born August 30, 1926 in Temple, Tx. to the late Ralph and Ethel Youngblood. He passed away February 14, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Jim is survived by his wife Tag, daughters Sharon Anderson and husband Ray, Leigh Williams, and Sharmon Youngblood. Five grandsons James, Brandyn and wife Laci, Dustin and wife Sarah, Christopher and wife Emily and Jonathan and granddaughter Allison and numerous great grandchildren. Jim graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont in 1943. He entered the United States Navy in 1944 at age 17. Jim graduated from Southwest University in Georgetown, TX in 1951 with a BA in Chemistry. He went to work in 1955 for Conoco Oil Co. in Egypt. In 1956 he went to work for Magcobar and was assigned to the International Dept. to travel world wide in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. He traveled a total of ten times around the world serving customers. In 1960 he lived in Iran for four years. He returned to the US as vice president of research and marketing. Pallbearers will be grandsons Brandyn Hopper, Dustin Pugh, Christopher Hopper, Jonathan Pugh and friends Stephen McConnell, Shane Phillips, Jody Phillips, Josh Frederiksen. Honorary pallbearer is Petteri (Peter) Packalen of Finland. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church or the . Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine.
