James Osborne Spencer, Jr. was born 83 years ago on March 26, 1932 to J.O. and Maidel Spencer of Conroe. He passed away peacefully on July 9, 2015 in Conroe with his family by his side.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Drew; grandparents; brother in law, Louis (Bubba) Weisinger and wife, Pet, all of Montgomery County.

He is survived by wife of 63 years, Gertie Weisinger; sons, Randy and Blake, and daughter, Jaime Davis and husband, Tommy; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Brent Davis, and Jessica, their children, Tucker, Easten and Tinley; Keri Houston, her children, Dontae and McKayla; Wayde Spencer, and Nakia, their child, Damian; and Madeleine Spencer; beloved Laurie Spencer Palmer; brother in law, John E. Weisinger, and Sue; and many nieces, nephews and many great friends. Also, as a foster parent he adored each child living in his home. James loved all his family without condition.

He was a man of faith, belonging to First Presbyterian Church (Conroe) where he served as Elder. James was an executive for St. Paul Insurance, Houston where he commuted for 30 years. He loved sports and will be remembered as an outstanding athlete, having been named the 1949 Texas All State Fullback. He graduated from Rice University where he also played football. James had a passion for golf where he played with many friends at River Plantation until his health forced him to quit. He coached little league baseball and football, served as President of RP (MUD) having also served in the US Navy Reserves for many years. James was an avid woodworker and built several homes. He is deeply loved and will be missed.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church of Conroe with the Rev. Dr. David H. Green and the Rev. Laurie Spencer Palmer officiating. A private family interment will be held at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery.
