Jean Marie (Eads) King passed away peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday morning, June 11, 2014. She is survived by her immediate family: husband of 67 years, Gilbert L. King, and only child, Phyllis K. King, both of Conroe. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Marie Eads of Lakeway, Texas, and nephews, Mark Eads of Ft. Worth and Jimmy Eads of Austin. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her dear brother, J. S. Eads of Lakeway.

Born in Richmond, California on June 16, 1928, she moved with her father and brother to east Texas, Louisiana and finally settled in Conroe. As a resident of Conroe since 1939, she knew many "home town" folks as her friends. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1945 and pursued a 31-year career in banking, serving the public with a smile.

She was a member of many organizations and groups, volunteering and serving, including PTA, Home Demonstration, Internos Club, Dance Moms, Church Board, Young at Heart, Meandering Methodists, Beacon Sunday School Class, Church Greeter, Usher and Steward. Jean and Gilbert married in the First United Methodist Church, Conroe on April 4, 1947 and attended until they became members in 1955.

There will be a memorial service at 10:30 am on Monday, June 30, 2014, in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Conroe, 4308 West Davis Street, Conroe, Texas 77304. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jean's name to the First United Methodist Church of Conroe at 4308 West Davis Street, Conroe, Texas 77304 or to the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County at P.O. Box 2262 Conroe, TX 77305-2262.

Faithful wife, loving mother and thoughtful friend, rest in peace, Jean King.
