Jerry G. Moffett, Jr., age 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 12, 2012. He resided in Conroe, TX and is survived by his wife Hilda Strebeck Moffett, daughters Maurene of Waller, TX and Allison Moffett of San Antonio, and daughter-in-law Mary Moran Moffett of Houston, and seven grandchildren: Mollimichelle, Morganleigh, and Madelinrae Cabeldue, Joel Moffett, and Sara, Grant, and Emily Moffett. Jerry is preceded in death by his son, Galen Paul and brother John Moffett. Jerry was born in Shreveport, LA on December 30, 1930 to parents Jerry G. Moffett and Frances Noah Moffett. He graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1951 and LSU in 1955 with degrees in chemical engineering. He joined Shell Chemical Company at Norco, LA in 1955 and later worked in New York City and Houston. His career path encompassed chemical manufacturing, corporate planning (economic research), product management, marketing, and business management. He retired from Shell in 1991 after more than 36 years of service. After entering Louisiana Tech in 1947, Jerry joined the Louisiana National Guard and was later commissioned in the Infantry. His branch was later changed to the Corps of Engineers. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve as a Major in 1969 after 21 years of service. Jerry, a life-long Baptist, served in various church jobs. He very much enjoyed fishing and hunting, care of his home, and vegetable gardening. He was a Master Gardener. Celebration of Jerry's life will be at First Baptist Church, Conroe, 600 N. Main, Conroe, TX 77301 at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Burial will be private.
