Jim (Pepaw) Thorpe born March 9, 1945, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 5, 2014. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother-in-Law, Uncle, and Friend. For over 20 years he was the owner/operator of "Pepaws Catering". He worked car shows, horse shows, weddings, church and other events in his Red Catering Trailer. Everyone who knew him knew how generous and caring he was. He fed for free anyone who could not afford to pay or donated food to those in need. After retiring from catering he worked his last years with good friends at Roy's Auto in town. He was a veteran of Viet Nam where he served as a medic and flew on helicopters into heavy fire to retrieve injured soldiers. He was a true hero. He was a member of Conroe Cruisers Car Club where he worked many car shows for charities and scholarship funds. He and his wife were blessed to have 45 wonderful years together. He will truly be missed by all that knew him. He is survived by his wife, Talma Thorpe; sons Gillie Thorpe and spouse Tom Roy, and Master Sergeant Michael Thorpe and spouse Deeann Thorpe; grandchildren Robin Mckellar, Jackson Thorpe, Corey and Myke Rousell; Great-grandchild Landon Rousell; sister-in-laws Jayne McClain, Judy Guy, brother-in-law Tommy Guy; nephews Dwayne Hodge and spouse Christine Hodge, Leslie Guy and spouse Tonya Guy, Lennie Guy and spouse Melissa Guy, Timmy Guy and spouse Kelly Guy, and Scotty Guy and spouse Heather Eames and their children. He is also survived by many friends and extended family. He is preceded in death by his mother, Della Sonoga; father Carl Thorpe; stepfather Michael Sonoga; mother/father-in-law Betty McClain and David McClain; nephew David Hodge; and many other loving family members and friends. His family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice, Dr. Chanh Nguyen, our friends and neighbors, God Bless you all for your help during his illness. Family will receive visitors at Mims Baptist Church on Monday, November 10, 2014 from 5-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. Rest in Peace and Love, we will meet you when our chores on earth are through. We love and cherish you always.
