Joe Bayne Goodspeed went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 23, 2017 in Conroe, Texas. He was born in Nocona, Texas on January 21, 1931 to Doyle and Ann Goodspeed. While Joe began his career as an English teacher, he spent over 50 years as a Church of Christ minister, preaching in 13 churches in Georgia (Lake Park and Bainbridge) Arkansas (Pine Bluff and Little Rock/North Little Rock) and Texas (Conroe, greater Dallas area). Joe was kind and compassionate, always quick to tell a story or share a joke. He loved the Bible and poetry; using them both to provide comfort and encouragement to everyone he met. A peacemaker at heart, Joe created a rich legacy of joy and love to his friends and family. Joe is preceded in death by his wife, Floye Goodspeed, parents, Doyle Goodspeed and Ann Goodspeed and sister, Ann Fern Goodspeed Long. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Diane King and husband Randy, son, John Goodspeed and wife Shannon, sisters, Mary Jane Goodspeed Rogers and Judy Goodspeed Wright, brothers, Doyle Goodspeed, Houston Goodspeed and Henry Goodspeed, grandchildren, Lindsey Couchman and husband Brent, Katy Hibbs and husband Jordan, Christopher King and wife Samantha, Lucas Goodspeed and Olivia Goodspeed and great grandchildren, Ellie and Lila King and Henry and Samuel Hibbs. Numerous other relatives and a host of friends also survive. Visitation will be held Monday, November 27, 2017 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 12:30pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Minister John Helbig officiating. Burial will follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
