Joe Dalton Cranfill was born August 30, 1945 in Rotan, Texas and passed away peacefully in his home on September 8, 2014 at the age of 69 after a short illness. Joe served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War building air fields. Upon his discharge he served his community as a law officer for Harris County, Humble Police, and later was a detective for the Montgomery County Sherriff's department. His favorite job was "playin in the dirt" with big boy toys when he was employed by the Montgomery County Airport. He was known by friends for his dry sense of humor and his consistent integrity. He was truly one of a kind, respected and loved by all who knew him. Joe would be the first to share his love for Christ and for his family. He will be deeply missed. Joe is preceded in death by his son, Joe Feldon Cranfill of Willis, TX and father, Kenneth Cranfill of Colorado City, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan, grandson, Dalton Cranfill, mother, Lorene and husband Bill Freeman of Houston, TX, sister, Leta and husband Billy Kavanaugh, sister, Pat and husband Mike Brown of Edgewood, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. in Garden Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kenny Lewis, Troy Carlile, Chad Carlile, Jay Carlile, Billy Kavanaugh and Dalton Cranfill. You are invited to view our webpage and leave tributes to the family at
