Memorial Service for Joe Taylor Coward, Jr. of Conroe, Texas will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX 77038, with Lt. Don Savell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at 10:00 A.M. Joe was born on March 19, 1953 in Harris County, Texas to Joe Taylor Coward, Sr. and Janie Lou (Askew) Coward. He passed away peacefully on July 4, 2016 in Bryan, Texas at the age of 63.

Joe proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era. Later he served with the Harris County Sheriff's Department where he was a dedicated Sergeant serving for 25 years. Joe loved antique cars and was a member of the Conroe Cruisers. He was a wonderful, caring man who had a great love for his family. Joe's tall tales and sweet, gentle heart will be missed.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Janie Coward. He is survived by his loving family: Loving wife of 24 years, Melissa Lee Coward; children, Steven DuWayne Coward and Kelley Coward, Janie Mechelle Coward and Daniel Edward Isbell and Christina Santana; grandchildren, Alexis Breanne Coward, Kayleb DuWayne Coward, Kalah Anne Michelle Paige, Kelcey Taylor Coward and Kensie Robin Coward; siblings, Debra Hillhouse, Sharon and Lenus King, David and Gayla Coward and Judy and Earnest Ryan; his loyal companion, Sarge (chocolate lab); many loving nieces, nephews and caring friends also survive.
