Joel Glenn Smith, 57, of Magnolia, passed away March 3, 2017. He was born November 20, 1959 to Robert Vernon Smith, Jr. and Vivian Faye Smith.

Joel from Magnolia, was born in Shamrock, Texas where he lived until the age of 10. He and his family then moved to Houston and where he attended Milby High School. Joel's first job was delivering newspapers where he rode his bike around to get the job done. He also worked at Sage in the pet department where he loved working with animals. At the age of 17, he started his career in the oil field, his parents had to sign paperwork to allow him to start this job, he grew up quickly in this field and worked very hard to move up the chain. When Joel was not working, he loved life, spending time with family, the ones he loved most of all. He enjoyed cooking out and riding his Harley motorcycle. Joel also had a special love for his three, four legged children he called his babies; Harley, Lucy and Davidson.

He is survived by his mother; wife, Sandra Gayle Smith, daughters, Melissa Martinez and husband Luis and Michelle Vela and husband Martin; step-daughters, Valerie Stedifor and husband Damon, Cherie Stone and husband Timothy and Lisa Hamm-Hicks and husband Matt; step-son, Gary Eugene Hamm; sister, Deborah Bales and husband Jim; brother, Robert Smith and wife Wanda; and 19 grandchildren.

Including his father he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Taylor; grandson, Joseph Martinez; and nephew, Jimbo Bales.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 7th, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home - Magnolia. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 8th at 2:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home - Magnolia.

Interment to follow at Klein Memorial Park


Serving as pallbearers are Nathaniel Martinez, Uriah Vela, Caleb Aaron Stone, Aaron Wallace, Chris Bales, Wes Smith.
