John J. Spallone Jr. was 81, when he peacefully entered into eternal rest on March 18th, 2014. John was a loving husband, father, friend, and a devoted Catholic servant. An inspiration to all who knew him, John's kindhearted nature always placed other's needs before his own. Playing his accordion for seniors at Mass, John enriched people's lives through music. He always had a smile for everyone he met.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Winifred Martone. He is survived by his wife Betty; his children John, Steven, Lauren, Robert, and Patrick; his step-children Kathleen, Karen, John and Michael; his sisters Betty Lou Carangelo, Alice Spallone, Lucille Spallone; and a multitude of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

John served as a Naval Aviator Navigator in the Korea War aboard the U.S.S. Kitty Hawk. He followed his military service with 44 years at Schlumberger as an Electrical Engineer and Researcher, running their Sounding Lab in Houston, Texas, retiring in 1998.

Family and friends will celebrate John's life with a viewing from 3-5 P.M. and a Rosary at 5 P.M. on Sunday, March 23rd at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 10129 FM 1097 West, in Willis, TX. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, March 24th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph Catholic Community in New Waverly, TX, followed by military honors. John will be interred at Houston National Cemetery.
