In Loving Memory of John Russell "Jack" Lapham, Jr., 48, of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Conroe, Texas who passed away on June 26, 2015 in Florida. Jack was born on February 28, 1967 in Mobile, Alabama to John Russell Lapham, Sr. and Paulette Lapham.

He enjoyed a happy childhood, growing up surrounded by loving family and many friends. As a child he loved to play baseball, soccer, tennis and of course, football. Jack was an avid sports fan, a trait that spanned through his life, whether he was playing a sport or watching one with friends.

He was a 1985 graduate of Conroe High School, where he played varsity football and met lifelong friends. Jack was further educated at Kilgore College and later at Valencia College in Orlando. While in Kilgore, he was active in drama where he enjoyed spending summers working in the Shakespeare Festival. Jack was also an excellent artist whose creative side was showcased through his sketches, journals and cartooning.

After college, he began his contracting career in Florida. Over the years, he helped rebuild areas that were heavily hit by hurricanes: Sandy, Katrina and Rita. Wherever Jack's travels took him, he always found the good in people and was always quick to lend a helping hand. Jack loved fishing and spent many hours on the coastal waters and lakes of Florida, Texas and Maine. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle along the beaches of the Atlantic in Daytona where he lived.

His last years were spent caring for his son, Jake, with whom he adored. Jack's heart and soul were poured into the selfless care he gave to his son.

Jack was an upbeat and positive man with a beautiful smile that would brighten up any room. He saw the good in each day with every sunrise. Jack is dearly loved and will live on in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed.

Jack is survived by his loving family: parents, John Russell Lapham, Sr. and Paulette Lapham; his beloved son, John Russell "Jake" Lapham, III and his mother, Doris; daughter, Elizabeth Koonce of New Orleans; grandmother, Ruth Crane of Mobile, Alabama; sister, Lynn Lapham; brothers, Patrick Lapham and Stephanie Powell Lapham and Paul Lapham and Yuri; nephews, Sean and Christian; nieces, Hannah Michaela and Angela Joy of Conroe. Several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, and an abundance of caring friends also survive.

A private Memorial Mass will be held in the Kolbe Chapel at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe.

Jack will be honored and remembered at his Conroe High School Class of 1985 pre-reunion gathering.
