John Scott (Johnnie) McDaniel, 67, of Austin, passed away December 25, 2014, at the Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunsfels, TX. His last Christmas was spent in the loving company of his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Scott and Edna McDaniel of Navasota, TX. and most recently his sister, Dixie McDaniel Callihan.

John was born September 6, 1946, in Navasota, TX. He graduated from Navasota High School in 1966. He received a Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston University in 1970 and a Masters of Agriculture from Sam Houston in 1971.

He spent most of his adult life in Conroe, Texas, where he was a custom builder. He also sold real estate in Conroe and Montgomery county areas for many years. John was an avid sports fan and an exceptional athlete. He had many fond memories and stories to tell regarding his athletic accomplishments. He played football, baseball, basketball and ran track. He also enjoyed golf. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. In later years he preferred to photograph rather than shoot animals.

John is survived by his wife, Kim Alexander, a son Cory Scott McDaniel of New Braunfels, TX. and a daughter, Brooke Nicole McDaniel of New York City, NY. He is also survived by a sister, Janice McDaniel Floyd of Houston, TX., an uncle, Perry Thomas of Bluford, IL., an aunt, Betty Minson of Benton, IL., a niece Laura Floyd Leszinske of El Dorado Hills, CA, and a nephew Daniel S. Floyd of Austin, and cousin Karen Killion of Navasota, and great nieces Charlotte and Caroline Leszinske of El Dorado Hills CA, and great nephews Will Leszinske of CA., Eli and August Floyd of Austin, TX.

The family plans to hold a private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in John's name to either:
