Johnny Ray Matthews

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Johnny Ray Matthews, 75, of Tatum, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 30, 2012. He was born on November 22, 1937 and passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012.

He is survived by two brothers, Albert Matthews of Tatum, and Jim (Jimmy) Matthews and Jackie Marhofer of Conroe, Tx; niece, Holly Buckholtz, husband Jon, and son Carter of Conroe, Tx; nephew, Troy Matthews, wife Andrea, and daughter Victoria of Conroe, Tx. He is also survived by numerous cousins and other relatives, and many, many friends.

Johnny was a very special child of God, having been mentally handicapped since birth. He was always a caring and loving gentleman, and never met a stranger. His waves of friendship and big "howdy" from the front porch of his home in Tatum will be greatly missed by all those passing by each day. Johnny loved to ride around Tatum and surrounding area - he especially liked the trips to Wal-Mart.

Johnny loved Jesus and had accepted him as his personal Lord and Savior. He will now join his mother, Johnnie Belle Matthews and father, Ray Matthews who preceded him in their heavenly home. He will now be God's servant and waving to all in his heavenly home.

Special thanks goes to the doctors and staff at Good Shepherd Hospital, Longview, Texas, and the lovely caring individuals and staff at Beacon Hospice, Longview, Texas. Very special thanks goes to caregivers Teresa Copeland and Kay Dyer, and previous long-time caregiver, Sue Parkman.

Visitation will be at Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home, Henderson, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Tatum City Cemetery, Tatum, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.
