Joseph Donald Leners of Montgomery, Texas went to be with our Lord and Savior, December 22, 2011. He was born in Algona, Iowa, on March 26, 1929 to Mike and Frances Fude Leners, and grew up working on his family's farm. Following his graduation from St. Mary's Catholic High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served in the Strategic Air Command for twenty years. In September of 1955, he married his beloved wife, May Laverne Davis Leners. After retiring from the Air Force, he became one of the most successful sales representatives for Sherwin Williams, Inc. After retiring once more in 1995, he dedicated the majority of his free time to his grandchildren, and his parishes, St. Catherine of Sienna and St. Mary. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, May Laverne Davis Leners, his daughter Kathryn and her husband Mitch, his son Donald and his wife, Heather, his beloved grandchildren, Amy, Michael, Mark, Brittany, Joseph, Emily, Carol, Sarah, Miranda, Hayden, Gracie, Savannah, Vivianne, Wyatt, Annabelle, Evangeline, and his great grandson, Owen. He is preceded in death by his parents Michael and Frances, his brothers, John, Jim, and Michael; his sister, Karen; and his son, Thomas. Joe was wonderful husband, father and grandfather. The lives and hearts he touched are infinite, and he will be dearly missed.

A visitation will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Montgomery, Texas, Thursday, from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church, Friday, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 8227 CR 205, Plantersville, Texas 77363, 936-894-2223.
