Juanita Walker Johnson, 94, passed away August 17, 2011 in Beaumont, TX. Born Nov. 11, 1916 in Saratoga, TX to Callie Hayden Walker and Archie D. Walker, she was the oldest of five children. Juanita graduated from Holliday High School in 1935 and received her Cosmetology certification in 1939 from Orval Academy of Beauty Culture.

In 1943, she married Austin O. Johnson just before he shipped out to England during World War II. When he returned, they followed the work of the oil fields in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma before retiring in 1980 to Conroe, TX. They were married 48 years and had one son, Terry.

Juanita was a member of the Conroe Church of Christ for 31 years. She played the piano and was an oil painter of flowers and landscape scenes. She loved to cook, especially desserts, and was known for her batches of Aunt Bills Brown Candy. She maintained her sense of style, keeping up with the latest fashions and keeping her Neiman's account active until the end. Remaining independent, she continued to drive into her 90s and was diligent in maintaining her network of family, friends, and acquaintances. She could easily talk current events, politics, or sports with anyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers, Travis Walker of Centerville, LA; and A.D. Walker of Odessa. TX.

Survivors include her son, Terry A. Johnson of Beaumont, TX; granddaughter, Brandi Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX; sister and husband, Mary Lou and Melvin McCleery of May, TX; sister and husband, Nelda and Ted Hamilton of Hoover, AL.; sister-in-law, Colleen Walker of Odessa, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at Holliday Cemetery in Holliday, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
