June B. Harris, 93, passed away October 16, 2014 in her home in Conroe, Texas with her family by her side. A memorial service will be held near her home, Saturday November 15, 2014 at 2:00pm, in the chapel at Forest park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 So., The Woodlands, Texas 77384.

June was born June 2, 1921 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to E.O. and Edna Brickson. She graduated from Carroll College and University of Wisconsin, where she studied Journalism. June joined the Marines in 1942 and was stationed in Miramar, California where she met her husband Ed J. Harris who was a Commander in the Navy. They were married one week after they met. They returned back to Wisconsin where her husband attended law school at the University of Wisconsin, at this time June started her political career by being elected Wisconsin's first women Justice of the Peace. After graduating from law school, they moved to Texas to reside in Galveston, where June lived until hurricane Ike. At that time, she moved to Conroe to live near her children.

While in Galveston, June was very active in assisting her husband in being elected to many offices, such as, City Council, State Representative, and State District Judge. She considered herself a politician's wife. She was active in Beta Study Club, Galveston County Kennel Club, Red Cross, Cedar Lawn Garden Club, Galveston Co. Democrat Party, League of Women Voters, Galveston Art League, Galveston Historical Foundation, By the Sea Condo Residences Association, Moody Methodist Church, and The Marriott Forum at The Woodlands.

June was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She will be loved and remembered by her daughter Ann Chaffin, son in law, Dean Chaffin of Conroe and son Edward Harris, daughter in law, Linda Harris of San Antonio, brother in law, Rev William Harris of Austin, grandchildren, Mari Jones, Richard Jones, Tracy Winget, Kevin Harris, step grandchildren, Denise Clarke and Jeff Chaffin, great grandchildren, Shelby Winget, Brook Harris, Carson Harris, Aaron Clarke, Avery Clarke, and Hunter Chaffin along with other relatives and friends.
