Karen Kaye Elliott Hurst was born on January 6, 1971, in Houston, Texas to Tommie and Pauline Elliott. In 1978 she moved to Conroe, Texas where she lived most of her life. She attended Conroe schools 1st - 12th grades, enjoying dancing, basketball, modeling, and photography. After graduation Karen attended Sam Houston State University where she earned her degree in Math with an Elementary Teaching Certification. Karen has taught in public education all of her adult life. She touched the lives of numerous children in both Willis and Franklin ISD.

Her daughter and the light of her life, Ashley Nichole Carter, was born October 18, 1992, and has filled her life with joy. Karen married Monty Hurst of Franklin, Texas on July 28, 2008. Together they built a life of love, friendship and happiness together.

Karen was called home to be with our Lord on October 8, 2015. She is preceded in death by her father, Tommie Elliott and is survived by her mother, Pauline Elliott; husband Monty Hurst; daughter, Ashley Nichole Carter; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Aaron Vader; brother and sister-in-law, Trent and Shannon Elliott; nieces, Katelyn and Kelsey Elliott; nephews Taylor Vader and his wife Elise, Corbin Vader and Tyler Elliott and great nieces Faith and Lena Vader.

Visitation will be at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, October 11th from 4-6 PM and services on Monday at 10:30 AM in the same location. You may leave written condolences at www.shmfh.com
