Our beloved son, brother and friend, Karl Ross Leidy, passed away on April 17, 2013 after a long illness. He was born on October 5, 1964 in College Station, Texas to Ross B. Leidy and Joyce T. Leidy. He graduated from Travis High School in Austin, Texas in 1983 and continued his education at Austin Community College. Karl then served for 3 years in Europe with the U.S. Army. After his tour Karl returned to Texas and his job at HEB where he continued to work for many years in a managerial position. He then was employed by the Department of Public Safety for over 15 years as a Purchasing Agent, serving in that capacity until his passing.

Karl had an unforgettable and larger than life personality and was universally liked by all who knew him. He was an avid model builder and was a member of the Austin Military Modeler's Club where he won numerous awards through the years for his incredibly detailed and historically accurate models and dioramas. He had a passion for history, politics and being a good friend and brother. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

Karl is survived by his sister, Marsha Leidy Case, of New Orleans, Louisiana; his father, Colonel (Ret.) Ross B. Leidy, PhD and his wife Sylvia Leidy, of Senatobia, Mississippi; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles in Texas who will all cherish his memory.

A memorial service to celebrate Karl's life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas.
