Kathryn "Kitty" Eileen Basham Self of Montgomery, Texas, died December 27, 2017, at the age of 71 after a brave fight against pancreatic cancer.

Kitty was born December 1, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Hal Basham and Zoreen Grimes Basham. She was a self-proclaimed and proud "Airforce brat" who lived many places in her childhood, but she always considered Wichita Falls, Texas, the home of her youth. She grew up with two brothers, Hal J. and Tim.

She excelled in both mathematics and language arts and attended Ohio State University where she was a member of the Angel Flight Military Drill Team. Next, she married the love of her life, George Self on June 3, 1967, and became a "Navy wife."

Kitty spent the next years of her life raising her children Mike and Lara. Once they were in High School, she went to work for The Woodlands Corporation in project management. Then on to TAS Construction. She also joined her daughter, Lara, in the promotional product industry for a few years while Lara had her own distributorship. Then, when George got sick, Kitty dedicated all her time to him. He passed away in December of 2007.

After that, Kitty would use her time, talent and boundless energy to serve in her community and in ministry. Everyone knew the top priority for her time, though, was her family. She rarely missed any of her grandkids' ballgames or events.

Kitty served as President of The Magnolia Parkway Chamber of Commerce. From there, she found her true passion working with her best friends at Reflective Life Ministry! This is where she found such pleasure in editing books, working retreats and doing all she could to help produce the movies First Love and We Are Stronger. The film We Are Stronger was especially dear to her heart, as that project spoke to both her patriotism and her love for Christ.

She is survived by her son, Michael Self, his wife Kathleen, and their children Maddie and Mason. She is also survived by her daughter, Lara Self Gryder, her husband Larry and their children Matthew, Ryan and Jack.

A celebration of Kitty's life service will be held Saturday, January 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Bible Church, 5505 Research Forest Drive, Spring, Tx 77381.
