Funeral services for Dr. Kay Roxanne Weise of Conroe, Texas will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Ark Church with Pastor Alan Clayton officiating. Interment will follow at Garden Park Cemetery under the direction of Conroe Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Weise was born on June 16, 1939 in Lawrence, Kansas to O.E. and Alvina Nelson. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the age of 75 in The Woodlands, Texas.

Kay met and married the love of her life, Bobby Weise, while they both were attending the University of Houston and were happily married for over 53 years. She taught English for many years at Conroe High School where she left her mark on many students who still keep up with her to this day. Kay was very passionate about the education of our children. With this passion she created the Gifted and Talented Program within Conroe Independent School District and served as elected President, Texas Association-Gifted & Talented, Austin, Texas. Kay earned her Ph.D from the University of Houston and retired from the Department of Educational Leadership and Cultural Studies at U of H after many exemplary years.

Kay was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who was known for her kind words, generosity and caring soul. The earth lost an angel.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Audrey Leigh Quast. She is survived by her loving family: husband, Bobby Weise; daughters, Julie Shute and Lorre Bumgardner; grandchildren, Jamie Maurie Shute, Jane Roxanne Shute, Davis Michael Shute, Katie Bumgardner and Nicholas Bumgardner; great grandchildren, Jessica Maurie-Taylor O'Quinn, Kameron Lee O'Quinn and Addisynn Mae Oncale; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar Eric and Sue Nelson and Eugene King and Karen Nelson.
