Mr. Guinn was born October 12, 1939 to Ernest and Liza Guinn in Houston, Texas and passed away on March 20, 2017at home in Buffalo, Texas. Joe has courageously battled cancer the last 3 years.

He graduated from Conroe High School in 1958 and attended Sam Houston State University majoring in Ag Education. In later years, Joe went back to SHSU for his Master of Education degree and then an Education Administration Certificate.

In the early '60's Joe taught Ag at Aldine High School for one year and then Cypress Fairbanks High School for two years. The last 30 years he taught in the Conroe Independent School District. His assignments included General Science teacher, Assistant Principal at Sam Houston Elementary and Assistant Principal at Conroe High School. He finished his career as Director of Pupil Transportation. He retired in 1995 and moved to Buffalo and continued to rodeo and raise cattle on his 460 acre ranch. Joe spent most of his spare time at rodeos participating in team roping and as pickup man. He was a master story teller who could recall and tell stories for hours on end.

Some of the many awards and honors earned during his career include: President of Montgomery County Fair Association in 1982-84; 1984 was Director for the Conroe- Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce; 1983 was Ex-Officio Director for Conroe-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, serving on the Highway and Railroad Committee; President of the Texas Youth Rodeo Association in 1985; President of the Texas Association of Pupil Transportation in 1986; Lifetime member of Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; Lifetime member of Sam Houston University Rodeo Club; and was inducted into the Youth Rodeo Association Hall of Fame in 1992.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael Guinn; sister, Evelyn Martin; and nephew, Eugene Martin. He is survived by his wife, Georgianne Guinn; daughter, Kendra Hiesel; stepson, Brad Harwell and partner, Stephen Ovalle; stepdaughter, Shellye Wiggins and husband Rob; grandsons, Kodey Pichotta, Kohl Hiesel, Clayton Wiggins and Grayson Wiggins; nieces, Kay Martin and husband Kevin Moffat, Lisa Martin and husband Bryan Braun and Tanna Harris; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Renita and Jack Harris; great-nephews, Jay Osborne and wife Dawn and Evan Osborne and wife Katie; great-great-nieces, Eve and Abigail Osborne; and great-great-nephew Cannon Osborne. Many other loving relatives and special friends also survive.

To celebrate and share your memories of Joe, please join his family Friday, March 24, 2017evening from 4:30-7pm at Cashner Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Conroe on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10am. Interment will follow at Garden Park Cemetery, Conroe, Texas

Pallbearers for the service will be: Charles John Johnson, Delbert Johnson, Curtis Golden, F. H. Kidd, Docky Martin, Perry Mizell, Eddie Floyd Pierson, and Tommy Snow. Honorary Pallbearers will be: J. W. Duritt, Tom Henson, James Grissett, Stuart Traylor, Jack Harris, Stephen Ovalle and Rob Wiggins. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in Joe's memory, may be directed to the Montgomery County Fair Scholarship Fund.
