Laura Kennedy Pate, born October 7, 1943 in Sylacauga, Alabama, went home to her Lord on Friday August 16, 2013, after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Laura, known to most as "Mimi', was the best Mimi anyone could ask for. Her children and grandchildren were her everything and she gave her heart and soul to those she loved. Married to the love of her life, M.O., for forty six years, they made their home in Conroe, Texas where they raised their children and both retired. Laura is preceded in death by her mother and father, Edith M. and Luther E. Kennedy; her brother Jimmy Don Kennedy; and sisters Billie Ruth Reed and Edith Muriel Horton. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Mitchell O. Pate of Conroe, Texas; daughter Lori "Shellie" Pate Uttinger of Conroe, Texas; sons Michael W. Pate and his wife Theresa of Deltona, Florida, Mitchell D. Pate and his wife Melissa of Montgomery, Texas, and Jason S. Pate and his wife Erin Breland of Conroe, Texas. Survivors also include her grandchildren Elizabeth Davis and her husband Mike of Magnolia, Texas and DJ Pate and his wife Ashley of Waller, Texas. Her pride and joys were her grandchildren Loren Drew and Peyton Cheyenne Uttinger of Conroe, Texas and Kinley Reese Pate and her mother Whitney Pate of Montgomery, Texas. Laura is survived by numerous great grandchildren and lifelong friends. Visitation will be Monday August 19 at Cashner Funeral Home from 5-8pm. A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 3pm in the Cashner Colonial Chapel with Bro. David Coleman as minister. Burial will be in the Garden Park Cemetery.
