Leo L. Hewett was born April 26, 1948 and passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by friends and family January 5, 2015 in Conroe Texas. Leo was born in Metairie Louisiana and moved to Conroe at the age of four. He was a graduate of Conroe High School and attended Sam Houston State University.

Leo was a Real Estate Broker and owner of Leo Hewett Properties for over 20 years. He was an avid Hunter and loved spending time outdoors. Leo radiated positive energy and was always there to help a friend or anyone in need. Leo donated his body to UT for medical research to help others. His spirit lives on in the hearts of his family and friends. His love of community is reflected in his commitment to the following organizations: Founding member, President and festival chairman of the Friends of Conroe, Founding member of the Downtown Conroe Economic Restructuring Committee, Conroe Salvation Army Advisory Board, Vice President and volunteer for the Montgomery County Fair Association, Mason Brother Masonic Lodge # 748, Former Member of Conroe Noon Lions Club, City of Conroe Planning Commission 2005-2011, and Montgomery County Food Bank.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leo "Shorty" Hewett and Marie Hewett of Conroe. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Shirley Hewett; Daughters Karrie Carter and fiancé Dan Dysart of Pearcy Arkansas; Kelly and Husband Blaine Gary of Austin, Texas, Mother-in-law, Sybil Hendrix of Conroe and numerous nieces and nephews.

Leo's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to his "Angels" at Hospice Plus for their compassionate care and to his dear friends Bob Secrest, Jack Moore and Donnie Morris for their caring assistance throughout his Dallas medical treatments.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Montgomery County Salvation Army.

Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday January 10, 2015 with the Funeral to begin at 2:00PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors.
