Leona Konieczny McVicar, age 84, went to heaven on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born in Brenham, TX on November 26, 1931. She came from a very large family with 9 half brothers and sisters and she was the eighth child of the second nine.

She married Charlie Konieczny on January 29, 1949. They were blessed with 4 sons and 3 daughters. They were married for 40 years until C.J. died in March of 1989. After a blind date in August of 1993, she married the love of her life, Bill McVicar on February 12 of 1994 and added 3 more children to the mix. They shared 21 adventurous years traveling from coast to coast. Bill never could say no to his honey "Miss Leona." After Bill's passing in April of 2015, Mom lost the spark that made her life complete and was finally diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands; son Ronnie Konieczny; still born daughter Annette Carol; and all of her brothers and sisters except her sister Nora Lewandowski.

She is survived by children Sandy Heinrich and husband Jerry, Joyce Laurence and husband Steve, Donna Francis, Charles Konieczny and wife Rhonda, James Konieczny and wife Peggy, Lonnie Konieczny and wife Melanie, and Greg McVicar. She left a legacy of 19 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.

The family would like to thank her special caregiver Lisa, and the providers from Kindred at Home.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Tuesday, December 29 from 5-8 PM at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home in Willis. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 30 at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Waverly, with a private burial later.
