Roy Leonard Price, 86, passed away April 30, 2015. Leonard was born in Richland, Texas on May 19, 1928. He moved to Conroe with his family at age 3 where he attended grades K-12, and graduated as a member of the Conroe High School class of 1947. At age 19, Leonard went to work for Humble Oil (now Exxon Mobil) as a company roustabout. On June 29, 1950, he married his high school sweetheart, Irma Louise Weinzettle. The couple moved from Conroe to Jacksonville, Texas in 1959, and then to Hawkins Texas in 1974. Leonard retired as Exxon Gas Plant Foreman after 39 years and relocated back home to Conroe in 1986.
Leonard was preceded in death by his mother and father, Elmer Mae and Roy Hugo Price, and his two sisters Christine Price Vass and Lorene Price Nelson. He is survived by his family: his wife of 65 years, Irma Louise Weinzettle Price, his three daughters: Susan Baley and husband Mike of Chandler; Melissa Hill and husband Jack of Conroe; Shannon Harvey of Jackson, MS; seven grandchildren: Les Harvey and wife Angela of Jackson; Ben Harvey and wife Lacey of Jackson; Emily Smith and husband Hunter of The Woodlands; Jennifer Paul and husband Joe of Chandler; Dylan Harvey of Jackson; Price Hill of Conroe; Margaret Hill of Austin; and seven great-grandchildren: Amanda and Kristina Paul; Hank and Jack Smith; Paxton Hill; Mia Harvey and Vance Harvey.
Leonard was a devoted husband and father whose family always came first. During his life he had many roles: he was an avid golfer, a master woodworker, a consummate storyteller, and a lover of music, dancing and fun. His easy going personality and sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He is much loved and will be greatly missed.
