Elmer Louis Brothers, Jr. (Lou) was born August 29, 1944, in North Adams, Mass., and went home to be with the Lord on September 20, 2013 in Knoxville, Tn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Louis Brothers, Sr., and Lillian Joyce Baker Brothers.

Lou served as Youth and Music Director at Mountain View Baptist Church in Claremont, Ca., and Central Baptist Church in Upland, Ca., while attending Golden Gate Theological Seminary. He was a member of Mims Baptist Church from 1996 - 2013, having recently moved to Tennessee. He loved being a greeter at Mims, singing in the choir, and especially leading the music for Park Manor and Hearthstone nursing homes. He loved music and was always singing. The last song he sang was "How Great Thou Art", and his favorite song was "Living For Jesus". Prior to his retirement, he worked in the steel industry as purchasing agent and project manager.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Ellen Brothers, son David Brothers, stepchildren Steven Brothers and wife Gidget, Karla Seabaugh and husband Michael, David Dial and wife Monica, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters Joyce Fought and husband Ron, Sarah Smith and husband Norman, brother Leroy Brothers and wife Laura.

Graveside service was held on Monday, September 23, in Seymour, Tennessee, and a Celebration of his life will be held at Mims Baptist Church in Conroe, Texas on Saturday September 28, 2013 at 10 AM with Pastor Gene Kendrick officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to a memorial fund to assist with medical and funeral expenses (payable to Mims Baptist Church, in care of Brothers Memorial Fund).
