Lucile G. Castle of The Woodlands, Texas passed away on November 13, 2014. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13 at 3:00 pm at Cashner Funeral Home, 801 Teas Nursery Road, Conroe, TX 77303. Lucile was born December 19, 1915 in Chatsworth, Illinois to Mayme and John Gingerich. Lucile graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Home Economics. She joined the American Red Cross and served in France, Northern Africa and Germany. After World War II, Lucile returned to Illinois and worked for the United States Department of Agriculture. In 1945 Lucile married Clarence ("Cas") H. Castle. Lucile and Cas lived in Illinois and Iowa until 1982 when they retired to Panorama Village, Texas. Lucile enjoyed participating as an adult leader in 4-H, a member of the Conroe First United Methodist Church, the American Association of University Women and the PEO Sisterhood. In 2000 Lucile and Cas celebrated 55 years of marriage. Lucile was predeceased by her husband Clarence, infant daughter Jane and granddaughter Krista Mayes. She is survived by her two daughters, Sherry and husband Douglas Whitley, and Nancy and husband K. Michael Mayes. She is survived by four grandchildren Julia Whitley (Peter Siegesmund), Douglas Elliott Whitley (Danielle), Florence Whitley Kerkaert (Thomas) and Hunter Castle Mayes (Angela). She is also survived by six great grandchildren, Thompson Kerkaert, Felicity Kerkaert, Marie Kerkaert, Lilianah Mayes, Jayden Mayes and Madison Moore. Lucile loved her special friends Trish Hodes, Kay Benes, Shirley Boehner, Kim Marriott, Sarita Phillips and John and Shirley Leftwich. The family is deeply grateful to Regent Care Center and Heart to Heart Hospice for their devoted care. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to First United Methodist Church, 4308 W.
