Margaret Veronica Garcia was born September 6, 1946 in Denver, Colorado to Augustine E. Garcia and Veronica Margaret Pasternak Garcia. She went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her. She was an amazing woman, and a tremendous example of love and humility to her entire family. She showed kindness to everyone she met and when you spoke with her, you knew she was truly listening to you and cared what you had to say. She had a special love of animals and nature. She adored her grandchildren and had such a special bond with each of them. She sacrificed freely of herself with others, and devoted her life to her family. She was a faithful wife of 40 years, a mother of five, grandmother of nine, and great-grandmother of three. She was a living example of God's love, and as she goes on to join Him, she takes a part of our collective heart along with her.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Veronica Margaret Garcia and her father, Augustine E. Garcia. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Robert D. Phelps, Sr. of Cleveland. She is also survived by her sister, Elaine Reilly and husband Jim of Syracuse, NY. Her children, son Dana Phelps and his fiancé Paula Moorer of Conroe, daughter Veronica Phelps of Cleveland, son Robert D. Phelps, Jr. and his wife Kendra of The Woodlands, son Adam Phelps and his fiancé Angelica Mendoza of Cleveland, and daughter Eva Nichols and her husband James of Cleveland. She was a treasured grandmother to Jessika Phelps and Chad Stanley of Cypress, Katie Stone and her husband Korey of Baytown, Laura Luman and husband Bryce of Splendora, Joshua and David Phelps of Cleveland, Evan and Austin Nichols of Cleveland, and Grace and R.C. Phelps of The Woodlands. She was great-grandmother to Jordan and Korey A. Stone, Jr. of Baytown and to AveryAnn Luman of Splendora. Numerous other friends and relatives will share in remembering her as a light in the darkness, and the world simply will not be as nice a place without her in it.

A private family tribute will be planned at a later date. We would like to extend a special thank you to Brother Gene Kendrick and the congregation of Mims Baptist Church for their unfailing support during this time, and to McNutt Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Margaret's name to the .
