Craft and Quilting store employees around Montgomery County, Texas bowed their heads today to remember Marian Lois (Poulson) Chatel, 93, of Willis, Texas. Marian passed on March 9, 2016 at 7pm and is welcomed into heaven by her husband of 50 years, Lionel Chatel. Also awaiting her are her parents, Victor & Bertha Poulson, her 2 half-brothers, 2 brothers, 6 sisters, assorted pets and other friends, family and those considered both. Born in El Campo, Texas on November 30, 1922 as the baby of the family, Marian Poulson grew up on the family farm and graduated from El Campo High School in 1938. After meeting at a USO dance, Marian fell in love and married Lionel Chatel, Sr. on August 1, 1942 and moved to Boston to live with his family while he was away in the Army fighting in World War II. During their 50 years of marriage, Lionel and Marian had 5 children- Judith Anne, Janet Lynne, Lionel Jr., Richard Edward, and Marian Lois "Dolly". Marian lived in Texas, Massachusetts, and Florida. A devout Missouri Synod Lutheran for her whole life, Marian spent countless hours using her amazing sewing skills making quilts, blankets, clothes and other things for those in need. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and a regular fixture at their national conventions with her daughter Judy Grimm. As a working woman, Marian was everything from sales clerk to physical therapy assistant but most of all she was a Mom. A Mom who shared her crush on Cary Grant and her love of sewing and crafting with her family. While Marian enjoys being the center of attention at the welcome home party in heaven, we who are left behind will miss her dearly. Marian is survived by her 5 children: Rev. Gerald "Jerry" & Judy Grimm of Mountain Top, PA; Raymond "Ray" & Janet Baker of Willis, TX; Lionel & Shirley (Hermansen) Chatel Jr. of Richmond, TX; Richard & Elena (Buro) Chatel of Tallahassee, FL; William "Bill" & Marian "Dolly" Dodd of Acworth, GA; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren with all their various spouses. A visitation for Marian Chatel will be held on Monday, March 14, 2016 from 5-7pm at Cashner Funeral Home- Conroe, Texas. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 10am at St. Mark Lutheran Church-Conroe with a luncheon following the service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Marian will be buried in the Houston National Cemetery with her beloved husband, Lionel F. Chatel.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations/memorials be made to the Lutheran Women Missionary League (LWML) mites or to St. Mark Lutheran Church - Conroe.
