Marion Cox Obituary

Marion M. Cox beloved wife of 47 years to Tom Cox and most precious mother of Missy Cox Flanagan and husband Chris, Melinda Cox Anderson and husband Roman, Thomas Cox Jr. and wife Bonnie and Mary Cox Drummond and husband Chris, ended her valiant and courageous fight with cancer on July 6, 2012.

Marion was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 6, 1937, daughter of Peter J. McGoey Jr. and Lily McGoey, who precede her in death. She is also preceded by her sister Kay Gargulio and brother Peter J. McGoey III. She is survived by her brothers, Blaise McGoey, Michael McGoey, Richard McGoey and sister Dr. Eileen Johnson. She leaves behind her greatest joy, her 14 grandchildren: Keegan, Tully, Maddie, Jack, Maisie, Lily, Bailey, Maggie, Kylie, Brody, Yancey, Riley, Molly, and Esme. She was a loving wife, and outstanding mother and grandmother, a caring sister and a faithful servant to our Lord. She lived, like she died, with courage and compassion. She will truly be missed.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:00 am at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church 26777 Glen Loch Dr, The Woodlands, TX. Family will be receiving friends on Monday, July 9, 2012 from 6-8 in the evening with a vigil and rosary at 7:00 pm at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Montgomery County Women's Shelter and or the Star of Hope Mission in Houston, Texas.

Tom and kids,
Sorry to hear about the loss of your wife/mother. She was always so sweet and involved with activities when you lived in Inverness Forest. I use to babysit all of you kids and give rides on my back because I had long hair. Also, I lifeguarded at the pool for 6 years.

Dear Cox family, please know that prayers are being lifted up to heaven for you during this time of grief. Mrs. Cox was so precious and gave so much of herself. When I met her she was already ill; but did not stop doing for others and always with a smile. She reminded me of my own mother so my heart just open up and brought her in. She touched many lives and mine was one.

Dear Cox family, We are so blessed to have known Marion. She had such a beautiful and lovely sense of family. Her warmth and compassion for those around her was evident in her laugh and in her smile. We know that God is holding you all in the palm of His hand. As it says in Isaiah, “As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you."
