Marjorie Ruth Dougharty Martin 84, formerly of Orange, Conroe and Houston TX died on August 27th 2013 at her home in Richmond, VA where she lived with her daughter and son in law since 2001. She was born in Deweyville, TX February 28th 1929 the fifth of nine children born to Sam and Martha Dougharty.

In 1953 Margie graduated from Lillie Jolly School of Nursing in Houston, TX. She loved nursing and made it a life long career, which reflected her kind and caring heart for others. She married, had two children and lived in Houston where she worked as a school nurse for the Spring Branch Independent School district. Later Marjorie and her family moved to Conroe, TX where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Conroe Service League. She owned and operated Conroe Sample Shop and worked as an OR nurse at different times.

After retirement, Margie moved back to Orange, TX where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church and did part time nursing and volunteer work. In 2001 she moved to Richmond, VA to live with her daughter and son in law. There she continued to care for and love people within her church and the community, having made many wonderful friends. She was a blessing and a guiding light to every life she touched.

Marjorie is predeceased by her mother and father, Sam and Martha Dougharty of Orange, TX. Two brothers, Willard and Lawrence Dougharty of Orange, TX and Two sisters, Sammy Sweat of Port Neches, TX and Ethel Marie Dougharty of Orange, TX.

She is survived by her two children, Jeff David Martin and wife Rhys Rozzell of Austin, TX and Jill Ireland and husband John of Richmond, VA. Marjorie was fondly known as Grameo to her five grandchildren, Jared Blake Ireland and wife Julie of Richmond, VA. Kelly Marie Ireland of Charlottesville, VA. Marjorie Katherine Martin, Morgan Rhys Martin, and Aimee Elizabeth Martin all of Austin, TX. She is also survived by her brother Wayne Dougharty and wife Verna, and sisters Lee O'Sullivan, and Nelda McGuire all of Orange, TX, and Pamela Dry and husband Audley of Victoria, TX.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday September 1st 2013 at 3:00pm in the sanctuary at Third Presbyterian Church in Richmond, VA.

Her cremains will be laid to rest September 21st 2013 at 11:00am at Dougharty Memorial Cemetery in Orange, TX at a graveside celebration of her life.
