Marvin E. Vornkahl, age 95 of Montgomery, Texas, passed away November 7, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 15, 1916 - first born son of Elmer and Bertie Clifton Vornkahl in Clark County, Missouri. On February 21, 1937, he was united in marriage to Verna M. King at Kahoka, Missouri.

Survivors include his wife of 74 years ,Verna; one daughter Karen (Joe) Clark of Montgomery, Texas; two grandsons: David (Shannon) Howard of Austin, Texas and Michael Howard of Round Rock, Texas; four great grandchildren; Alison, Kevin, Evan and Kyle; two brothers: Merrill Vornkahl of Bourbonnais, Illinois and Melburn (Ruth) Vornkahl of Burlington, Iowa; one special cousin, Wilma (Richard) Doud of Wickinburg, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bertie Vornkahl.

He loved his wife and family - always thinking only of their needs and welfare. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Anson Community Church and served his community in many ways - school boards, church and cemetery boards, Farm Mutual Insurance Company and FHA.

Marvin graduated from Farmington, Iowa High School and was a farmer for 70 years on the Vornkahl Century Farm. He loved his black angus cattle, farming and conserving the soil. He loved to read and kept up on current events to the end.

Memorial service to be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Anson Cemetery.
