Mary Ann Woods

Obituary
The Guest Book is expired.

Mary Ann Woods, 86, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and wonderful friend went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2017. Mary Ann's cherished family and friends will forever remember her for her unconditional love, enormous spirit, kindness, laughter, warmth, gentleness, sense of humor, beautiful smile, courage, enjoyment of life to its fullest every day, and her abounding devotion to family. She will be sorely missed by all who know her.

Mary Ann was born September 8, 1930 in Houston, TX to the late Earl and Nila Edge. She graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1947 where she also served in the Gaucho Drill Team. Mary Ann married Jay Crockett Woods on July 2, 1949 and they spent 54 glorious years in loving marriage and raising their beloved children together prior to Jay's passing in 2003. She succeeded in several professional endeavors during her life, including working as a licensed realtor, cosmetic representative for Estee Lauder Companies, and administrative assistant at WT Specialties, Inc., her husband's company. While she enjoyed her various careers, supporting her husband and raising a loving Christian family gave her the greatest joy. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Willis, TX.

Mary Ann is survived by four children and their spouses, Jimmy and Lisa Woods, Bobby and Leslie Woods, Kelly and Susan Woods, and Kathy and C.F. Hazlewood; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; the Dilworth family addressed below; numerous very special and loving friends and neighbors; and her sweet little dog Lili and loving cat Elsie.

After her husband Jay's passing, Mary Ann was blessed to find love and devotion of a second wonderful man and companion when she met Lawrence (Larry) Dilworth in late 2003. Larry's three children and spouses, Debra Dilworth, Karen Dilworth, Larry Jr. and Caren Dilworth, two grandchildren, and three great grandchildren soon became dear and loving extended members of the Woods family. Mary Ann and Larry continued life's wonderful journey and joys together, especially cruising the high seas, until Larry's passing in 2014.

Actively supporting and participating in family member activities and events gave her the greatest joy and lasting memories, including Boy and Girl Scouts, church, vacation bible school, sports, music, FFA, camping, boating, fishing, and traveling.

Hosting family gatherings in her home on Lake Conroe at Christmas, Easter and national holidays was perhaps the most fun of all because she could share quality time and laughter with her treasured kids, grandkids and great grandkids to make new wonderful memories. She was an avid supporter and participant in the Republican Party, and she regularly contributed to many charity organizations dear to her heart. On occasion she also enjoyed visiting a casino for a little wagering entertainment.

A memorial service will be held at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, Willis, TX, Thursday, April 13 at 11:00AM with Reverend C.F. Hazlewood officiating. A reception will follow at the Lake Conroe Hill Subdivision Clubhouse.

Special heartfelt "thanks" from the family goes to Dr. Kruti S. Nair and staff at Texas Oncology, Woodlands, TX; the doctors and staff at Memorial Herman Hospital, Woodlands, TX; and the staff at Virginia's Hospice, Willis, TX for their tender care and support.
