Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mary Dell Huffman will be held Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 12:30pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Pastor Steve Yates presiding. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, May 2, 2014 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Cashner Funeral Home. Mary was born July 9, 1925 to Norman and Ola McKee in Wapanucka, Oklahoma and passed away at the age of 88, April 28, 2014 in Conroe, Texas. Mary earned a BA in Education from East Texas State Teachers College and taught school for several years at Alba, TX. She met her husband, Bill, while he was stationed at East Texas State for Army ASTP Training prior to his military service during World War II. They were married on April 20, 1946 in Ft. Worth. She enjoyed traveling world-wide while accompanying Bill during his overseas assignments in Managua, Nicaragua and Manilla, Philippines. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening, golf and she was a Masterpoint Bridge player. She was always full of laughter. There was just something about her ready smile and her sense of humor was contagious. She did volunteer work for and was a life-long member of Church of Christ. As an avid sports fan of football, baseball, and golf, she would often listen to one game on the radio while watching another on tv. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother, Jack McKee, and by her loving husband, William H. Huffman. She is survived by her brother, Keith McKee of Paris, TX; sons, Rick Huffman and wife Marilynn of Austin and Mike Huffman and wife Diane of Houston; four grandchildren and one great granddaughter. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses who cared for her at Conroe Regional Hospital, as well as, Vitas Hospice; her friends at Conroe Church of Christ, Panorama Village and Carriage Inn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made in her memory to Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Rd, Conroe, TX 77304.
