Mary Louise (Soape) Martin passed away on Thursday Aug 15, 2013. Born May 19, 1921 on a farm near Sterrett, TX, she was raised near Angus, graduated from Corsicana High School in 1939, and Jefferson Davis Hospital (Houston) RN Program in 1943. She entered the US Army Corp of Nurses and served as 2nd Lt. in WWII.

During her RN career she worked in Humble Oil Refinery Hospital (Baytown), as travelling Humble Oil Camp nurse in East Texas, at Spring Branch Nursing Home and finally finishing her career at Sam Houston Hospital (Houston).

She married Valton Martin on Feb 7, 1948. She was a member of Terrace Methodist Church (Houston). She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 1/2 years, Valton Martin. She is survived by her son, Randall V Martin, MD & spouse Karen of Conroe and daughter Gwen Truett & spouse Leonard of The Woodlands. She is survived by 5 grandchildren (Bob Martin, Randy Truett, Erin Anglin, Sheri O'Leary, Ensign Nicholas Martin, USN) and 7 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Sat, Aug 24, 2013 at 10AM at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home Chapel.
