OAK RIDGE, LA. Family and friends honored the life of Mary Sterling Rolfe Harp on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at the Oak Ridge Methodist Church. Interment followed at the Oak Ridge Episcopal Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop, Louisiana.

Mary Sterling was born February 11, 1939 to the late Charles and Sterling Rolfe and she grew up in Oak Ridge, Louisiana. She graduated from Louisiana State University and was the first runner-up in the Miss Louisiana pageant. She married the late Kelly Mayo Harp and together they lived in Hawaii, New Orleans, New Jersey, Tennessee, and Texas and she had just recently returned to live in Oak Ridge. Mary Sterling was an artist, model, vocalist, pianist, and after years of home-making, enjoyed working in retail. She had just recently celebrated her seventy-third birthday and had reaffirmed her membership in her childhood church where family and friends commemorated her life.

Mary Sterling is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Robert Gilman Harp. She is survived by her daughter, Claire Rolfe Harp Hunter, brother, Tommie Rolfe, nieces, Amy Rolfe Brown and Dara Rolfe Hoell, nephew, Jarratt Rolfe, and numerous extended family and friends. Mary Sterling passed away after a brief illness.

For those who wish the family suggest memorials be made to the Oak Ridge Methodist Church or to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home.
