Mary Winona Daniel passed away on February 8,2016 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was 91. Winona was born on April 7, 1924 in Breckenridge, Texas, to Ernest and Mary Norvell. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from North Texas State Teachers College (now the University of North Texas) in 1944. Following graduation, Winona worked in the research department of Humble Oil & Refining Company (now Exxon) in Baytown where she met her future husband, Raymond Daniel. They were married in Baytown and lived in various cities around Texas, including Conroe, Wichita Falls, Dallas, Ft. Worth, Lubbock, and Muleshoe, finally settling in Conroe 45 years ago. Winona taught at Runyan, Crockett, and Reeves schools in Conroe ISD as well as schools in West Texas. Winona and Raymond co-founded Daniel Office Products in 1978, and together they built a thriving and successful business that is still in operation nearly 40 years later.

Winona was a faithful follower of Christ who made friends easily and loved her family dearly, always supporting their endeavors. She was punctual, organized, and creative. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and playing bridge, she was an expert with the sewing machine, and she spent hours crocheting blankets for her friends and family. She enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially the Houston Astros, and recently renewed her love of bridge, playing with her friends and fellow residents at the Carriage Inn.

Winona was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Raymond Daniel of Conroe. She is survived by her son, Robert Daniel and wife, Kathy of Conroe; son, James Daniel and wife, Carla of Cypress; brother, Woodrow Norvell and wife, Pat of Dallas; brother, Kenneth Norvell and wife, Anne of Dallas; granddaughter, Leslie Daniel Newman and husband, Tim of Dallas; grandson, Mark Daniel and wife, Stacy of Arlington; granddaughter, Rebekah Mushinski and husband, Ryan of College Station; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held at Cashner Funeral Home in Conroe on Monday, February 15, 2016 from 5pm to 7pm. A memorial service will take place at 11am on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Conroe, with Winona's son Jim officiating.
