Max "Gene" Rhea, 86, of Willis, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015. Gene was born on August 3, 1928 in Waynesville, North Carolina to Dewey and Polly Rhea. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. After the war he spent his career working for Champion Paper and International Paper until retiring. He was also a life member of the American Legion, Willis Post.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife, Margaret Pearson Rhea. He is survived by his sister Margaret Surrett and husband Shurman; brother John Wade Rhea; loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Ona Heide and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Friday, May 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Scotts Ridge Cemetery in Montgomery, Texas. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Gene's name to the at www.alz.org
