Melvin Ray Strader, 68, of Conroe, TX went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 10, 2015 due to complications of pneumonia.

Melvin was born February 6, 1947 to Oscar Melvin "Cotton" and Audrey Marie Strader of Houston, TX.

On March 20, 1971 Melvin married Martha Fay Brown. They shared 44 years of life, love, and laughter together.

During his life, Melvin worked as a machinist for Hughes Tool Company until the mid-80's and then worked as a produce manager for Kroger until he retired in 2009. When he wasn't working, you could find him enjoying his life-long hobbies of fishing and hunting.

His proudest accomplishments were sharing life with his beautiful wife, raising his 3 daughters, spending time with family and friends, and serving his country.

Melvin is preceded in death by his father Oscar Melvin Strader.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Strader; daughters Cheri Poulter and husband Mike;

Niki Harris and husband Matt; Gwen Powers and husband Muncie; grandchildren Travis Middleton; Kaylin Walker and husband Victor; Phoebe Harris, Cody, Cole, and Casey Powers, and his first great-grandson to arrive in May. Melvin is also survived by his mother Audrey Marie Bumbard; sister Sue Green and numerous nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, cousins, and friends who will all miss him dearly.

Funeral services for Melvin will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, February 14 at Cashner Funeral Home with a visitation scheduled for Friday, February 13 from 5:00-8:00 PM. The service will be officiated by ministers Tyrone Mynhier and Jim Middleton. Pallbearers will be Matt Harris, Muncie Powers, Bert Middleton, Travis Middleton, David Beall, and Charles Brown.
