Merlyn Wallace Johnson went to be with the Lord, peacefully, December 15, 2016. He was born to Nathaniel Bryant and Maggie Wallace Johnson on August 24, 1921 on "Johnson Hill" in Montgomery, Texas, where he lived his entire life.

Wallace served in the Coast Guard, during WWII from 1942-1945. When he returned home he helped his father with farming and ranching. During his life he learned carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other trades. When asked what he did for a living he said that he was a jack of all trades and master of none.

In 1951 Wallace married the love of his life, Elna Jean Prater. They served the Lord in many ways during his life. In 1994 they started traveling and working with the Texas Baptist Men Builders where they made many good friends and had the time of their lives serving God.

They also enjoyed hunting, especially going to Cotulla to hunt deer or quail. There was always a little competition and ribbing, but they had a good time and plenty of stories.

Wallace is preceded in death by his father and mother; brothers, George Edward King, Nathaniel Bryant Johnson Jr., Marvin Archie Johnson, Seth Emmett Johnson and Johnny Alvin Johnson; sisters, Jennie Laura King Phillips, Willie Effie King, Effie May Johnson Martin, Nettie Ella Johnson, Maggie Myrtle Johnson Schaeffer, Priscilla Bernice Johnson Coats and Grandson David Johnson.
