Mona "Sue" Hardin Collins went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 7, 2013. Sue was born on July 30, 1932 in Grapeland, TX. She married the late Shirl C. Collins of Rusk, TX on December 24, 1949. They were married for 44 years until his passing in 1993. Sue and her husband, Shirl, moved to Houston soon after they were married; they had 3 children, Jan, Karen and Susan.

Sue and Shirl were very active in their church as they served the Lord in various ways. For many years they were involved in mission projects as they gathered and sent supplies to missionaries, Sue sang in the church choir, and she and her husband provided a home for foster children for many years. In Sue's later years, she made quilts for the home-bound elderly, dolls for homeless and foster children, and headed up the "I Like Me" Rotary Club book project for underprivileged children from 1995 - 2011.

Sue was a professional as well as being a mother and volunteer. After the family moved to The Woodlands in 1972, Sue began as accountant for KIKR/KNRO radio in Conroe, TX, where she worked until 1990. From 1995 - 2007, Sue was the Secretary/Marketing Manager for the Montgomery County/Conroe Rotary Association, and an active Rotary volunteer from 2007 - 2011. She received an Honorary Lifetime Member award for her service there. From 2007-2012, Sue was the accountant for the Montgomery County Food Bank.

Sue was a multi-talented woman who enjoyed quilting, oil painting, and making/designing clothes; but most of all she enjoyed her relationship with God and time spent with her family and her many friends. She was known for lighting up a room with her smile and radiating kindness and love. Sue is survived by her daughter Jan Collins Freeman and son-in-law Larry Freeman, daughter Susan Collins Giacona and son-in-law Vince Giacona, grandchildren Amy Freeman Wildermuth, Richard Strickland, Kevin Freeman, Taylor Patterson, Evan Giacona, Grayson Giacona, brother Carroll Hardin and sister-in-law Louise Hardin, cousin Sandra Herrod, and sister-in-law Opal Collins Cuthbertson. Sue's daughter, Karen Collins, was preceded in death in 2008. Sue will be missed by everyone who knew her, but no doubt she was greeted in Heaven with "Well done my good and faithful servant....well done".

Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at The Woodlands United Methodist Church in The Woodlands, TX, and visitation at 6-8pm on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands, TX.
