A Celebration of Life will be held for Monty Ray Koerner, age 76 of Conroe, Texas, on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. in The Chapel at Conroe Funeral Directors with the Rev. Steve Yates officiating. Interment will follow in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 5:00 P.M until 7:00 P.M.

Monty Ray Koerner was born April 29, 1940 in Austin, Texas and passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 in Conroe, Texas. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as Campus Security at the University of Texas before moving to Conroe in 1966 to join the Conroe Police Department and later Montgomery County Sheriff Department. After retirement, he became involved with the Montgomery County Christians Against Substance Abuse and enjoyed prison ministry for 12 years through Conroe Church of Christ where he was a member since 1970. Monty was a great lover of all outdoor activity. His favorite place was the coast.

Monty was preceded in death by his parents: Edmon Koerner and Elna Wisian Koerner of Austin, TX. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Vaught Koerner; two sons, Tom L. Koerner and fiance', Leslie Booher Cuccia of Montgomery, Texas and Monty Kyle Koerner and wife Sharon Green Koerner of Tyler, Texas; one grandson, Jacob Ray Koerner of Conroe, Texas; four step grandchildren, Thomas Cuccia of Midland, TX., Jacob and McKay Cuccia of Montgomery, TX and Hailey Thomas of Groceville, TX. One great granddaughter, Tommie Kaylynn Koerner of Conroe, TX; sister, Anita Koerner Baldridge of Lockhart, TX; brother-in-law, Neal Vaught and wife, Helen Williams Vaught of Gretna, LA; three sisters-in-law, Maynelle Vaught Pruett of Conroe, TX, Noressa Vaught Bull of Montgomery, TX and Charlotte Vaught Perkins and husband, Ronnie Joe Perkins of Conroe, TX. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Pallbearers: grandson, Jacob Ray Koerner, step grandson, Jacob Cuccia, nephews, Charles Lee Hereford, Gary Lynn Hereford, James Neal Bull and Charles Kevin Bull.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Conroe Church of Christ Share the Vision Building Fund, Family Promise or Montgomery County CASA through Conroe Church of Christ, 1860 Longmire Rd, Conroe, Tx 77304.
