Nadine Wood Sonnier passed away on April 23, 2012. She was born in Salinas, California on November 1, 1930 to Marshall and Frances Wood. Nadine was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Fred L. Sonnier; a granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; a brother-in-law; a nephew; and a niece. Nadine is survived by a sister, Thais Glines; her children, Theresa Copperthite & husband (Greg), F. Louis Sonnier, Jr., Gayle Johnson, Frances Lambert and husband (Lloyd), Howard "Woody" Sonnier and wife (Grace), Michelle Brown and husband (Wesley Dean); 13 grandchildren, Kimberly Reynolds, Susie Reynolds, Christy Kinder, Chad Johnson, Monica Pearce, Lisa Klesel, Justin Lambert, Howard Sonnier, Jr., Bridget Sonnier, George Sonnier, Joey Brown, and Karen Brown; and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother-in law, Donald Sonnier and wife (Jo Ann); her sister-in-law, Joan Sonnier; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nadine's childhood years were spent in Oregon and northern California. She moved to Texas and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954, where she was a Staff Sargent and met the love of her life, Fred Sonnier. Nadine received the Good Conduct medal and the National Defense Service medal during her service in the Air Force.

As an adult, Nadine was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Conroe, where she ran the Christmas Basket program for many years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Nadine was a loving wife, mom, granny, and friend to everyone she met. She loved to work in her yard making flower beds. She was always happiest when her family was around her.

A rosary will be held for Nadine at Metcalf funeral home on Sunday April 29th at 7 PM. Visitation will be from 5 to 8PM.

A funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday April 30, 2012 at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.

Pall bearers will be Chad Johnson, Justin Lambert, Howard Sonnier, Jr., George Sonnier, Joey Brown, Wes Kinder, Casey Pearce, and Chris Klesel.

Many thanks go out to the staff of Odyssey Hospice Conroe and Comfort Keepers, whose many care givers helped Nadine. Special thanks to Becky Lindley for taking such great care of our beloved Nadine.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Christmas Basket program in memory of Nadine.
