Odalee Griffith Martin was born July 21, 1920 in Merigold, Mississippi. She died October 27, 2016 at her home in Willis, Texas at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 6 days.

Odalee, the eldest of five daughters of David and Appolona Livingston Griffith, came to Conroe from Oklahoma City when her father became the minister of the Church of Christ in Conroe. She graduated from Conroe High School in 1939.

On New Year's Eve, 1938, Odalee met Ewing Martin. They were married August 26, 1939 and remained married until Ewing died June 18, 2015. The Martins had two children, Sarah Ann Martin, who preceded Odalee in death June 24, 2015, and Judge Mason Martin II of Conroe, wife Vanessa and grandson Ryan Simpson. Additionally, Odalee is survived by three grandchildren, Sarah Martin Bemrich, husband Joe of Flower Mound, Mason Martin III, wife Flora of Middlebury, Indiana, and Katherine Martin of Montgomery, Texas, two great grandchildren, Alexandria Martin and Mason T. Martin of Middlebury, Indiana, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Odalee declared her belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God by being baptized when she was a young girl. She remained a faithful Christian and member of the Church of Christ throughout her life. Odalee loved teaching Bible school and attending teacher workshops and Bible lectureships at Abilene Christian College.

Odalee was a Girl Scout troop leader for 25 years. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother who truly loved her eight Cub Scouts. As a spokesperson for the women of HUB Club, Odalee addressed the Montgomery County Commissioners Court requesting that a public library be built in Conroe, which was done. She was an active member of the Conroe High School Ex-Students Association and actively participated in Republican politics, especially when it was time to re-elect her son.

Odalee designed and made incredibly beautiful award winning quilts. She loved to cook, bake cookies and cakes which she regularly brought for the staff and lawyers that came to County Court at Law No. 3, Montgomery County, Texas.

In addition to raising her own two children, Odalee took great pride in raising her first grandchild as her own.

Odalee was a strong, courageous, loving, forgiving daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, grandmother and friend.

Her Pallbearers are: Larry Allen, Harry Dehtan, David Dehtan, Dana Garrett, Jimmy Smith and Henry Steitz.

Honorary Pallbearers are: the members of Odalee's Cub Scout Den, Danny Liles, Floyd Wayne Stewart, Jim Howard, Albert Madeley, Whitson "Pete" Etheridge, Ell Darden, Raymond Johnson, her son Judge Mason Martin II and those members of the Montgomery County Bar Association that came to County Court at Law No. 3 and enjoyed the cakes Odalee made for them.
