The spirit of Odessa Lynn Ranges, 41, of Dayton, TX, left this life to be with our Heavenly Father on June 27, 2014 after twenty years of captivity in a body broken and paralyzed in an accident.

Odessa was born on February 22, 1973 in El Paso, TX to parents Paul E. Ranges of Montgomery, TX and Marquita Berry Ranges of Dayton, TX. She was active in Academic UIL competition, the Young Women's youth group at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Liberty, TX and the Rainbow Girls of Dayton, TX. She wrote for the Baytown Sun Teen Times for three years, and was a member of both the Junior National Honor Society and the National Honor Society. Her favorite Dayton High School activity was being on the the Dayton Dazzlers Dance Team. Odessa graduated in 1991 in the top ten of her class of at Montgomery High School. She attended the University of Texas at El Paso for one year before returning home to pursue a course of study in Houston for a career in media journalism until her accident in 1994.

Odessa is survived by her parents, brothers Robert E. Ranges of Dayton, TX, Paul John Ranges and wife Tammi of Cleveland, TX and nephews Jordan Ranges and Tyler Ranges of Nome, TX.

A visitation with the family will be on Monday, June 30, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Sterling Funeral Home, 602 North Main, Dayton, TX.

Funeral Services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 331 Vera Lane, Liberty, TX at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Interment will follow at Palms Memorial Cemetery in Dayton.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Dayton High School Dazzlers or to the burn center at Shriner's Hospitals for Children - Galveston.
