Owen Melville Hodgkins, loving husband, devoted father passed away peacefully on the morning of June 23, 2016 after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. Owen was cared for at home by his wife and the dedicated staff of Vitas Hospice.

He was born on September 3, 1934 in Calgary, Alberta Canada. He was the second of three children born to Melville and Mary Hodgkins. Owen graduated from Royal Military College of Canada with a commission in the Royal Canadian Air Force, followed by a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University Of Toronto. After leaving the service, Owen enjoyed a long and rewarding career in engineering and construction. While constructing the Texas Canada Highway near Gander Newfound-land, where he met his beloved wife of 51 + years, then a stewardess for Capitol Airlines. They were married On February 6, 1965 in Tarrytown, New York. After several job related moves, the family arrived in Texas in 1978, where Owen was employed by Brown & Root. They made their home in the Conroe area and have lived in April Sound since 1989.

Mr. Hodgkins was preceded in death by (his father, Melville, Mother, Mary & brother Allan Hodgkins.) Survivors include his beloved wife Linda, daughter Heather of San Jose, Calif, and two sons, Cameron of Magnolia, Tx. & Ryan & Wife Jennifer of Tulsa, Ok, granddaughter Chloe and 3 step grandchildren, Caleb, Arianna & Isabella, sister Olive of Brighton, Ontario, and sister-in-law Nancy Yovino and her children Sandy & Tracy Lee.

Owen was a life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Alberta, The Royal Military College of Canada and a member at large of the Airforce Association of Canada in his retirement. Owen enjoyed golf, friends, travel, staying in touch with school & service buddies and spending time with family.

A Casual celebration of life will take place on July 10th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm @ 127 April Wind Ct.
