Patricia Pope Carnes died peacefully in Conroe, Texas on Sunday, July 13, 2014. She was born December 1, 1931 in De Leon, Texas to parents Jimmy Clyde and Mary Ruth Pope. Patricia graduated from Central High School in San Angelo, Texas after growing up with two sisters, Billie Knight, and Jimmy Sue Workman, and one brother Jerry C. Pope. She met her husband Patrick on a blind date in February of 1949 and was married on Christmas Eve that same year. While living in San Angelo, Patricia worked for the San Angelo Fat Stock Show and Rodeo. In 1956, she and her husband, Pat, moved to Snyder, Texas. While in Snyder, Patricia worked as a church secretary for the First Christian Church where she and Pat were very active members. The family settled in Albany, Texas in 1961, where they established deep roots and continued to raise their family. For a short time, she worked as a secretary for A.V. Jones and Sons. Patricia was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Albany and an active participant in the Fort Griffin Fandangle for more than 20 years. In 2006, Patricia and Pat moved from Albany to Conroe, Texas to be closer to family. She is survived by her husband, Pat of 64 years, their children and spouses; son, Mike and wife Suzi Carnes; son, Mark and wife Martha Carnes; daughter, Kellie and husband Danny Cosby; grandchildren, granddaughter, Natalie Carnes and husband Matthew Whelan; granddaughter, Victoria and husband Mathew Titus; granddaughter, Rosalind Carnes; granddaughter, Hannah Carnes; granddaughter, Molly Cosby; and granddaughter, Katie Cosby; great grandchildren, Chora Whelan-Carnes, Edith Whelan-Carnes, Asher Titus, and Levia Titus. Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the First Christian Church, P.O. Box 2316, Albany, Tx 76430. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 12:30pm in Cashner Colonial Chapel with Chaplain Charlie Flannigan officiating.
