Born in Houston,TX on 10-26-46, the last of 6 children to Rex and Mildred Buzbee, passed away on 2-20-2012 at the age of 65. Preceded in death by his parents Rex Buzbee, John & Mildred Weimer; Uncle Carl Buzbee; brothers & sisters Sonny, Mike, Ann, Nancy, and Carol; brother-in law Bob Hext; son, Hugh Zachary Buzbee; wife of 31 years Dora (Dee) Mae Hext Buzbee; survived by "his Sunshine", wife Marilyn Bell Buzbee; children Patrick Clay & Courtney Buzbee, Leslie Brooke & Jeffrey Dennis; stepchildren Ginger Lynn & Augie Salas, Gregory Jason & Mackenzie Hensley; grandchildren Julian & Jonah Buzbee, Corbin Dennis, Evan & Owen Salas, Addison Hensley;mother-in-Law Josephine Bell; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, & loving & lifelong friends. Pat was involved in the environmental & public health profession for 35 yrs. He went to college at SFA. He received his BS in '72, with majors in Biology and Psychology. After moving to Houston, TX in '75, he began working for Harris Co. He returned to college at U of H, Clear Lake where he received an MS in Env. Mgmt in '83. After 25 yrs with Harris Co., he retired for 9 mo. In 2000, he made Montgomery Co his new home. Under his direction, the dept grew from 13 employees & a minimal budget to 30 employees & a budget of $1.8M. Among numerous accolades, he was the 2011 recipient of the I.E. Scott Award from TEHA for outstanding leadership in the field of env. health. Pat always found time to spend with loved ones, & was an active participant in his kid's activities. He was an active member in the Huffman ISD serving on the Board of Education. In '04, Pat moved from Houston to Huntsville, TX where he lived with his faithful wife, loyal canine, and a few head of cattle. Pat continued to serve his community and Montgomery Co. The family wishes to thank JP, Pct 4 James Metts, Dr. Sparks Veasey at SE Texas Forensics Center, LifeGift and Dr. Joan Bytheway at SHSU Forensic Science Facility for ensuring the fulfillment of Pat's personal wishes to be donated to science research and education. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zachary Buzbee Scholarship Fund at Wells Fargo Bank. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, 2-26-12 at 10 am at the Humble Civic Center in Humble, TX.
