Randall John "Spanky" Kinard, 60, of Houston, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Houston Heights.

Born Oct. 11, 1954, he was the son of the late Merrick Kinard and Era Lemacks Kinard.

Spanky retired from his career as a floral designer at The Empty Vase of Houston in 2007. He attended Baptist College at Charleston and received his Associate Degree in Business Technology from MTI College of Business and Technology in Houston. He was of the Baptist faith.

Preceding him in death was his sister Mary Ann Kinard Cook, who died March 30, 2012. He is survived by his sisters Viola Barber of Mobile, AL and Eva Mae Lender of Orangeburg, SC, and his brothers Ronnie Kinard of Johns Island, SC and Jimmy Kinard of Allendale, SC.

Spanky remained young at heart all his life and had the ability to make anyone laugh. A superlative floral designer, he also loved gospel singing, bowling with his friends in TX and SC leagues, hosting Christmas parties with lavish decorations, traveling to the coast to hear the sound of the sea, and being with his family and friends who dearly miss his wonderful, light spirit.

A memorial service was held for Spanky on December 29, 2014 at Oak Forest Baptist Church, 1770 W. 43rd St., Houston, TX 77108. Spanky's ashes will be spread by his family on the grave of his beloved sister Ann, where he can rest with her in eternal peace. Shine on, sweet friend.
