Graveside services for Ray Houston Ross of Conroe, Texas will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with the Rev. David Taylor officiating. The visitation will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Conroe Funeral Directors from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Mr. Ross was born on November 18, 1927 in Beckville, Texas to Arthur M. Ross and Nettie Pierce Ross, the first grandson of Elizabeth Vice Ross and L.K. Ross. He passed away peacefully on August 25, 2012 in Shenandoah, Texas. Ray was 84 years old. He attended schools in Beckville and Houston, TX and graduated from Houston Police Academy. He worked as a machinist, salesman, bookkeeper, detective, policeman, bank security officer and retired from HPD after 25 years of service. Ray was a Methodist, loved music, dancing, a great joke, California living, and expressing strong political views. He had a big, kind heart and was a caring husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather who lived life to its fullest and loved to laugh. Ray will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Raymond Ross, Ralph Ross, Raphel Ross and Roy James Ross and his sisters, Joy Faye Ross and Margie Ross Blair. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Flynn Ross and his daughter, Raeanne Ross. Ray is survived by his sister, Ruby Ross Smith and his children, Douglas Ray Ross and wife, Elaine Ballard Ross and his daughter, Shirley Ross Clute and husband, Douglas Glen Clute; six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and friends also survive. The family would like to send a heartfelt thanks to all of Mr. Ross caregivers for all of their personal attention and caring support throughout the years.
